Born in Italy but belonging to the world and shaped by a lifetime spent overseas, a nomad and creative maverick finds himself in the Canary Islands. His name is Daniel Valerio, and it is here that he starts crafting an independent movie script about the nomadic lifestyle—a cinematic journey of self-discovery on the road.
September 2023
Faced with compromises and unethical demands, Daniel refuses to sacrifice his creative vision and artistic freedom. He is asked to sell the entire script and all associated rights but declines. As a result, the project collapses, leaving him without funding, resources, or support.
The script remains unreleased. The movie, unmade.
Yet, Daniel continues his life on the road, leaving the Canary Islands behind. He carries the untouched script in a cherished folder on his laptop, wandering by the coasts of Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy.
December 2023
The characters from the script begin to demand life, shouting to be heard. For the first time, Daniel sees reality mirroring the fiction he created. On the open road, surrounded by coastlines and deserts, the magic of the script begins to manifest in his life.
The line between creation and destiny begins to blur. What started as a creative endeavor becomes a call—a mission.
A decision is made: "the story must come to life, no matter what."
Spring 2024
One of the characters' monologues transforms into something greater. "Break Free, Be Wild, Shine Bright" evolves into a mantra—a structure of three acts for the 18 chapters of Sunny Dusty Miles.
He shares the collapse of the original project, but it’s clear: the journey isn’t over. With renewed vision, Daniel revisits the story, adapting the original movie idea into a book. Faithfully, he brings to life each scene, each complex character, and the cinematic vision that sparked it all, weaving in unexpected twists that challenge perceptions and push boundaries. Page by page, he breathes life into the narrative and the energy it carries.
May 2024
The book is complete, yet one crucial piece remains to bring the story full circle.
Instead of releasing the book, Daniel decides to weave parts of the story into real life. The goal is clear: "catch the magic."
June 2024
After six years away from social media, Daniel makes a bold, temporary return with a single post: “SUNNY DUSTY MILES. We blur the line.” From there, he begins projecting key elements of his story into reality, blurring the boundaries between fiction and life. He does so subtly, merging the two dimensions without explaining too much or answering questions that would reveal too much, too soon, while working quietly behind the scenes.
One thing is clear: one rule only—no paid promotion, no sponsored posts, no added noise to an already cluttered world. Whispering proves more effective than shouting, patience more impactful than pushing, and authenticity and vulnerability become the path he chooses to walk.

They think they are waiting for the story, but in truth, they are already part of it. The script Daniel created begins to unfold in real life, mirroring the completed book, which is now ready for release.

But soon after, the whole project fell apart. I found myself without support or funding, having refused to compromise my creative freedom. That movie script sat untouched on my laptop for months, until one day, I realized it wasn’t about me—it was about you. It was about choosing to bring Alex, Luna, and Zephyr to life or letting them fade away. The truth is, I didn’t have to decide; they called out to be written, to come alive.And that’s how Sunny Dusty Miles began its journey as a book. My own journey continued, too—through pages crafted, miles driven, and coastlines that cradled my moments of solitude. All the while, I could feel this bubble of magic growing, destined to burst. I didn’t know how and when it would happen, but I knew it was meant to spread its light to all of you.Like Alex, I’ve emerged changed; like Zephyr, I refused to play it safe; and like Luna, I did my best to become one with the magic itself. Their voices grew louder, almost overwhelming, as if they risked making me lose my mind. I can’t count the times they came to my dreams like invited guests! At the same time, I began to notice how all of this was manifesting, drawing people into my life who were incredibly aligned with this journey and its characters.It started to feel as though, while the story of Sunny Dusty Miles was unfolding between the pages, a parallel story was happening in my life. That was the first moment when the line between fiction and reality blurred—though, at that time, it blurred only for me. Turning Sunny Dusty Miles from a movie script into a book no longer felt like enough. I sensed there was something more—a deeper calling to show others what it truly means to blur that line.This realization led me to return to social media after six years away—a brief reentry destined to end soon but significant in marking, in the real dimension, what was happening within the book. The journey of Sunny Dusty Miles would continue in real life, on the road, as if the road where the book was born was now becoming the bridge. This bridge, I knew, would connect the book’s epilogue to the continuation of the entire Sunny Dusty Miles adventure.Sunny Dusty Miles wasn’t written for those who revel in casting shadows over others. It’s not for those who choose judgment as their guide. This book exists for the ones who have suffered under the weight of that judgment. It’s for the dreamers who feel silenced, for those who long to rise but have been taught to fear their own light. Writing wasn’t part of my plan, nor was seeking validation or recognition. At the moment, it’s not even in my future plans. I’m not pursuing a career in it, nor do I intend to write again anytime soon. But life often calls us to create in ways we never expect. This is a work born purely from necessity—a spark ignited to bring warmth to those left in the cold.This book exists because it had to. It is a lifeline, a spark, a reminder that your light is still there, even if it's been dimmed by the world. From an unreleased movie script to a cinematic book, Sunny Dusty Miles was born out of rebellion—a choice to break every rule and rewrite what it means to create something true. I didn’t follow the "right" steps. I didn’t wait for permission. I refused to fit into molds set by others, and instead, I poured my heart into this in its rawest, most unpolished form. This isn’t about being perfect or polished—I never wanted it to be. It’s about being raw, real, and relentless.Despite those who tried to convince me to “do the right thing,” I held on to a single vision: if this had been a song, I’d have wanted it to be a raw, punk-rock anthem born in the dustiest garage—maybe even with some out-of-tune instruments—rather than a polished, top-ten commercial hit recorded in a multimillion-dollar studio. I broke every rule to bring Sunny Dusty Miles to life. I ignored the expectations, the "shoulds," and the invisible rulebook that tells us how things are supposed to be done.This book stands as proof that when you trust your inner voice, even in the face of noise and doubt, you create something that truly matters.
